Farms For Ferals

How it works

It can be very hard and lengthy to find homes for feral cats. This leads to euthanasia at animal shelters for the majority if not all ferals that are brought in or surrendered. In addition, many towns, cities and counties won't even allow ferals and make it legal to poison them even if the ferals are spay-neutered, vaccinated, and not causing a nuisance.

Farms and ranches have the space needed for a feral or more than 1 (a small colony of 2 to 6), and are Agricultural zoning so they can have this number without being in violation.

Our rescue would provide cat houses for summer and winter (insulated) if the cats cannot have space in the heated barn; in addition we would supply feeders, waterers, toys, cat posts, food, and Veterinary care. We will even provide Volunteers to come feed the cats.

If for some reason the farm can no longer keep the ferals, AskMrFrisky would come get them and rehome them.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Temporary fosters
  • Calling, emailing, and mailing land owners to see if they are interested in participating
  • Seeking donations of houses, straw, feeders, waterers
  • Fundraising to enable this program
  • Doing a "farm check" (like an adoption home check) to ensure the cats will be safe there
  • Transport volunteers for the cats

Volunteers for calling, emailing, and mailing landowners, seeking donations, and fundraising can be anywhere in the world!

Volunteers for foster, farm checks, and transportation can be in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New York.
