Our Future Vision
Our future vision is a world where:
- Every homeless animal has at least food, shelter, veterinary care, compassion and love if not also a home.
- Every animal in a shelter or rescue has enough time, care, space, activity, compassion and love to wait for a home – however long that takes.
- People and communities have the help they need to provide food and veterinary care for their pets and community pets (ferals, strays).
- People understand and practice the humane treatment of pets, community animals, and wildlife.
Our Org relocated in May of 2022 to 6 acres in New Jersey USA. This enables us to intake more special needs cats and dogs, create safe space for more ferals, strays and wildlife. We started the Anne Erspamer Memorial Pet Food Bank in July. See our Home Page for more information and how to volunteer to help with the food bank.
Long term we will:
Begin to clear land for installing an off-grid rescue barn. Initially this will be an emergency foster intake for domestic and farm fosters. Eventually there will be multiple buildings to include a lobby/offices/volunteer space, the Anthony J Greenwood Memorial Dog Wing, and the Alex Garth Memorial Cat Wing.
All spaces will include the 5 freedoms:
Ensuring that animals have appropriate space, lighting, air quality, food and water. Ensuring both the mental and physical well-being of animals. Ensuring freedom from hunger and thirst, discomfort, pain, injury, and disease, freedom to express normal and natural behavior (e.g. accommodating for a chicken’s instinct to roost); and freedom from fear and distress.
