Our future vision is a world where:
The problem is not only enough shelters, rescues, and sanctuaries. It is also the capacity, staffing and funding of those entities – or lack thereof – to help all of the animals in their community. Sadly, the majority lack adequate, non-dilapidated space, staff, heating, clean water, veterinary medicine and surgeries, food, beds, toys, leashes, collars, volunteers, foster and adoptive families.
Even before a global Pandemic destroyed lives, families, shelters, rescues, and economies, people on low or fixed incomes had to make the horrible choice to give up their pet or euthanize their pet due to a lack of money to pay for needed Veterinary care or food. Not all Veterinarians allow payment over time, and CareCredit is not always available to all who need it. For some a GoFundMe is wildly successful; for others just as deserving, it is sadly not successful.
